We sometimes hear terms such as spillover, persistence and trails used interchangeably. However, what happens when changing presets vs. bypassing is quite different. To avoid confusion, we have chosen to define the following terms to describe these two events:

  • Preset Spillover — The previous effect decays while the new effect starts. Essentially, the effects in the two presets overlap during the transition. This typically requires a dual processor or one with sufficient surplus bandwidth to run two effects simultaneously.
  • Trails Bypass — The effect decays when bypassed, rather than cutting off abruptly.

Most of our reverbs support Trails Bypass, sometimes as an optional setting.

At this time, none of our products support Preset Spillover; however, ILLUMINE and Expanse support a smooth transition (parameter morphing) between effects under some circumstances. Please see the respective User Guides for details.
